History

Organization of the congregation began with neighbors assembling in their homes for prayer meetings. Attendance grew and more seating room. One Summer in the early thirties a crude structure known as a brush arbor was erected. Starting with materials from an old building and aided by donations, a one-room building was completed. The church was dedicated in July 1934. 

The existing church building was built in the 1970's.

Our Pastor

Pastor Matt King was saved at the age of 12 years old at Springs of Life Bible Camp. He was called into the Ministry at the age of 18. He answered that call shortly after. Pastor Matt attended Bible College at Piedmont Baptist College graduating with a B.A. in Christian Ministry (formerly Bible) and a double minor in Management for Non-Profits and Christian Education. He has served as a Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor before coming to Serve as Senior Pastor of Glenvar Baptist Church in September of 2013. Together with his wife Charity they have three children, Matthew, Nathanael, and Sarah.
